I’m a Seattle-based writer, editor, and web developer. My thing to write is poetry, but I also enjoy digging into a deeply reported story. I wrote my first poem in the eighth grade and haven’t stopped since. I attended Westmont College, majored in English and studied with the poets Paul Willis and Marilyn Chandler McEntyre, among others. Then I attended Indiana University, earned an MFA in Creative Writing, helped edit Indiana Review, studied with the poets Maura Stanton, Ross Gay, and Maurice Manning, and the essayist Scott Russell Sanders, among others. I originally moved out to Seattle to be the Milton Fellow at Seattle Pacific University, hosted by Image Journal. I spent the last seven years editing Seattle Pacific University‘s Response magazine by day, writing other stuff by night (and on the weekends).
